It is what it is –or if you like French phrases– c’est la vie
That is a phrase one of my techs would say as we plowed through some things we did not like. Well verse 10 falls into a category of things the Christ follower will not like nor understand. Many followers of God and of Christ will be taken into custody and many will be killed. No explanation is given, but it is merely stated as factual. It is an event some will face.
What is the response to be: endurance and faith. God has his way and sometimes it will be very, very murky even to those who are closely allied to him. The persecution that these saints will face is not explained, but merely mentioned as a thing they must endure. Have faith in God’s ultimate plan even when all else fails. Isn’t that what faith is, anyway?
While you and I may not be persecuted, face jail or execution for our faith that does not mean life is a bucket full of happiness. Sometimes life can be downright annoying and troubling. We may be vexed by what we see going on around us or going on inside of us. Sometimes those goings on may make us mad at God or how he has done things. God, many times, maybe most times, does not give explanations. Revelation 13:10 may be the go to verse for those situations.
