“Trumpet #4, sound off!”
12 The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night. (Revelation 8:12–ESV)
In 2013 an asteroid 65 feet, named the Chelyabinsk meteor, across entered our world above Russia at about 40,000 mph. The effects injured well over a thousand people and harmed thousands of buildings. If a similar object a quarter mile wide entered our atmosphere it would cause a global event. The event of trumpet 2 effected 1/3 of the oceans symbolizing a global event. In trumpet 3 another space object entered the atmosphere and damaged the land: another global event.
If large volumes of dust are injected into our atmosphere the color of the sky will be changed. Look up the impact of volcanic eruptions on the atmosphere and you can see this type of thing. It is likely that trumpet 4 is atmospheric change resulting from the collisions of trumpet 2 and 3.
It is going to get worse
13 Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!” (Revelation 8:13–ESV)
While the trumpets mentioned above seem to have clear parallels to natural events this verse does not. Here we have an eagle talking to people. I don’t see an aircraft or blimp with a loudspeaker system being represented here. This eagle seems to be of heavenly origin. How would those on earth know there are three more trumpets? Angels blowing on them as signals? Perhaps the heavenly scene is somehow noticeable by humanity. Even so the people of earth would not put up a loudspeaker system to preach gloom and doom. If anything the earth would put up defiant messages: Persevere through the Trumpets! That seems more like an earth derived message.
Could it be that the eagle was flying in heaven? Maybe it was an announcement to those who had come out of the tribulation, to the martyrs, the elders, the living creatures, the angels, John, and by proxy to us. This seems to be a better fit for fantastic creatures are not uncommon in heaven’s realm. The announcement would be one to the members allied in heaven that the rebellious of the earth were drawing close to the close of their era.
Demolition of the earth
- Trumpet 1: 1/3 of the land
- Trumpet 2: 1/3 of the sea
- Trumpet 3: 1/3 of the fresh water
- Trumpet 4: 1/3 of the cosmos
I see in seals 1-4 a judgment on people. The 5th is a bit of a respite where the martyrs call out that the scales of justice be balanced. The 6th is a judgment on the dwellings, the safe places, man-made habitats. Many of humanities houses and structures were erased or made uninhabitable. Orange “Condemned” placards were all over the structures of men.
I take the context of Revelation as all being future. It seems that Revelation is about the finishing of the world order of Satan’s dominance and humanity’s rebellious stance. So upon coming to seal 7 I view the events as the dismantling of the biosphere. The world is going through God directed demolition.

I have taken care of and subdued my small portion of earth! And…I do not litter! ?

Awesome! I don’t either (on purpose, that is…a pickup truck will sometimes have a mind of its own). I used to pick up a lot of litter till I developed a repetitive motion thing in my right shoulder.
