Google Local Guides have been a huge plus breathing new life into a couple of expensive flying machines. See I have two drones: The Inspire 1 and the Mavic Pro. Both are really excellent in their own ways, but after a while 1 the “cool” wears off and it starts to sit….and sit2.
I am not sure why or how I got into the posting of pictures on Google maps, but a few months ago that notion hit and I have jumped in. After a few months I now have over 840,000 views of my 400+ images and I get about 12,000 or more views a day. This program has breathed a new life into my drone use.
First go to maps.google.com. See that hamburger thing at the top left of the pic? When I click on that another menu will open.
On that menu will be an option called “your contributions.” If you are not logged in you will be taken to a place to login to your Google account. If you are logged in you will be taken to your contributions page. Here is where your reviews will be, your map edits, your photos, etc. Of course if nothing is there it will come up empty.
When you want to add photos to a place find the business or place where you wish to add photos. Since I live in Augusta, Georgia there is this place down the street called the Augusta National Golf Club. Maybe you’ve heard of it? If not, no worries, but April in Augusta is dominated by that event. Look on the slider and you will see a screenshot from Google on that golf club. By clicking on the place on the map the left side of the screen will open up. Look down at the bottom of that image. See the place where it says “Add Photo”? Click that. Then you will be taken to a screen where you can upload a photo you have taken.
That’s it! That is how it is done from a computer. I use Windows 10 and Google Chrome, but it should work similarly on other platforms and other browsers.
If you have questions feel free to post them here, and I will try to answer back and give guidance as I can!
