Station 8: The thousand year theocracy
A thousand year reign. Have you heard of that type of thing before? Having recently finished William Shirer’s book The Nightmare Years which characterized Shirer’s tenure in Berlin during the Nazi’s time I am primed to think of the 1,000 year Reich. This fully came to power in 1939 and lasted but 6 years.
Fast-forward to Babylon. This kingdom was what Berlin had hoped to be, but fell short. Babylon, though, it does not seem will last for 1,000 years being destroyed by the enabler of it. God did not even have to destroy this Devil project. It fell because of rebellious, self-reliant humanity.
Contrast that to what comes next, in Revelation 20. Jesus sets up an earthly kingdom with a judiciary, administrative units and then himself as the head. Humans still passionately don’t want to submit to someone other than themselves so while great peace and comfort on a pre-renewed earth will be derived it still will not be what God would have.
Station 9: One more war
The God-project with humanity nears its final bitter struggle. Satan is released from his prison, but look what sadness happens. The people are deceived, again. The don’t want God, they didn’t want Satan. A thousand years of excellence has been concluded and to hell it will go.
This is seen in Revelation 20:7-10. This time God shows up and fights. While angels may have been powerful enough to lock up Satan it seems they are not enough to really dispatch Lucifer, lesser demons yes, but this very highly ranked demon is one that God himself handles. Fire falls from heaven and determines the fate of this great cohort of God fighters.
Station 10: Final judgment
Here is the Great White Throne judgment. In the passage which is recorded in Revelation 20:11-15 Heaven and Earth flee away. In my mind it is like when Neo and Morpheus are together just after Neo has taken the “red pill.” He is in training and while they are sitting in a computer generated perception all those perceptions are erased and they are left standing in a white nothingness where they talk and review things.
Before God at this time of this final judgment the only thing left will be the souls which comprise the essence of existence. The molecular world of existence will be gone. The world of touch, taste, smell, etc. were things representing the matrix in which the souls lived their lives. Will their deeds among the molecular, when tested, survive God’s inspection? If they do then they will live with God forever. If not then hell or the lake of fire will be the domain of forever.
