There was a brisk fire in the Macaroni Grill here in Augusta, Georgia last night. That fire took from us one of our favorite restaurants and one with many memories. We are glad and thankful that no one was hurt in the blaze or in putting it out.
WJBF reports officials as saying Macaroni Grill is a “total loss.”
We have had many wonderful meals there. We have seen many waiters and waitresses write their names upside down and our kids have put their own effort into doing it. We think our youngest child had her first restaurant experience there more than a decade ago, but it is hard to place it at this point. We have had Sunday school parties there. We ate by the fireplace in the back and in nearly all the other locations about the restaurant at one time or another. The loaves of bread are among our kids favorite with one of them working with her mom to make loaves just like it for one of her recent birthday parties. My son and I almost always ask for the create your own pasta menu. It was a great time.
My oldest daughter who is away added a snapchat on her story that said “Rest in Peace Macaroni Grill.” So that is my title! May you return to Augusta in the near future.
After work today I went up with my Inspire 1 and was able to capture these images above. I was able to speak with the general and district managers who were surveying the damage as was the fire inspector. By posting these photos here I in no manner mean disrespect over the troubles of others and we certainly hope they and their employees may be able to open in the future. The Augusta Goodwill has reached out in an effort to help their employees make new job connections.
