Certainty is a thing of God
What else can be taken from this? For one we see the certainty of God. On New Years Day 2018 the football teams of Georgia and Oklahoma met in the Rose Bowl. In typical style the pre-game show was served up to us with all of the routine uncertainties. The emcee of these showmen eventually polled the small audience of commentators for their predictions. Such a great game that Rose Bowl was with Georgia pulling out the victory in the 2nd overtime.1 Did anyone see that coming? No, at least not the men on earth. The point of this is that uncertainty is a thing of man. Certainty is a thing of God. God’s certainty extends throughout his commentators, be they angels, people or the scavenging birds he put on the earth.
In this great battle scene the armies of heaven don’t need a pep talk. Since we were speaking above on the Rose Bowl we can continue in this vein and say the armies of heaven don’t need to be hyped to action by Baker Mayfield. Since I am reading of the start of WW2 and have written and taught from that vantage point the armies of heaven don’t need a parade of tanks and artillery to be hyped to action. The Germans did not need in in 1914; they did in 1939. The armies of heaven are not like that. No, the armies of heaven are arrayed behind the King of kings, the Lord of lords. The outcome is so certain for them that the only needful talk is to the birds.
Have faith like the armies of heaven
The outcome of our lives has a guarantee. The guarantee comes as a result of the blood of Jesus. It is by no less than the warrior astride that Revelation 19 white horse seen when heaven will be opened. We still must have faith, but it is no pipe dream. Certainty is a thing of God. The world around us anxiously clamors for their happiness-hopes. We have no business in that grovel for God has written for us a far better horizon. That horizon is heaven and we eagerly await a savior from there. Live now in light of then.
