The next part
19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 5:19-20–ESV)
Colossians 3:16, a letter written by Paul during the same Roman incarceration during when he wrote Ephesians, says we are to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly.
Paul is not adovcating for mind-numbing scripture ramblings. He is advocating that God’s perspective is so integrated into our daily view that praise, godly takes on circumstances, thankfulness is at the tip of our tongue.
Surely you know those who will apply movie quotes to the moments of their lives. The movie is so readily available to them that they can layer the concepts into the thing happening right in front of them. Why not the same with the scriptures? Of course, having the scriptures ready on your tongue requires habits with them. So head there my friend. Be filled with the Spirit, it makes a difference.
